Ok, I got it
Back To Home Page
I have decided to do this page because it is vital that all bull terrier owners plus other breeds are contstantly being targeted by media and press and know that many of you now looking at this page feel the same way as I do - BSL is wrong!
When buying a puppy I cannot emphasise enough of getting one that is Kennel Club Registered.   This is proof not only your dog is registered but also that its parents and their parents are also registered.
After a number of biting incidents, two of them very serious, the Government decided to act very quickly.   They were under pressure from hysterical press and media and, as a conseqence, introduced to most stupid piece of legislation imaginable: the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
The act banned certain breeds from the country and placed cruel restrictions on the pitt bull terrier including enforced castration and spaying, all dogs to be implanted of tattooed, registered and insured. Also, they could only appear in a public place if muzzled and kept on a lead.
As if that wasn't enough for that particular breed, things were made worse with the expression of pitt-bull type.   This meant that Staffordshire Bull Terriers were immediately at risk.   You could be out with your Staff and accused at ant time, be anyone - of owning a 'pitt bull type' dog.   It is at this point that your Kennel Club Registration Certificate becomes vital.
Two cases that I have read about are those of Otis, a Great Dane, and Dempsey a registered Pitt Bull bitch. In the case of Otis, he was seized from his owners car by police fo being 'unmuzzled in a public place'! Since when has the inside of a car become a public place? A increible decision with which the Courts agreed.   After five years of being impounded, Otis was destroyed.
Dempsey, the registered Pitt Bull Terrier, was being taken for a walk.   Fully muzzled, she began choking.   The muzzle was removed to allow her to be sick but she wass observed by two police officers.   She was seized, accused of being unmuzzled in a public place, found guilty and sentenced to the mandatory death sentence under the Dangerous Dogs Act.   After a very long and expensive legal battle the High Court overturned the decision.
These are just two cases out of thousands.   The videos I have put on this page are of Staffs and Pitt Bulls - anyone thinking that these dogs are ' killing machines' need to watch these! You need to own one of these dogs before you pass judgement, and if you do decide to become a Staffy owner, you will never go back to any other breed - in the right hands they are the soppiest and most loyal companion you will ever find.
